How to Remove Pimples Using Vinegar
Vinegar has proven to me time and time again that it is one of the best methods to remove pimples from my body. I struggled with body acne from about the age of 13 to when I discovered vinegar in my early 20's. I was skeptical when I first heard about it. Using vinegar to clear up my acne seemed like some crazy home remedy that my grandmother would recommend to me that wouldn't actually do anything but make a gigantic mess (to say nothing of the oatmeal baths when I had chicken pox). However, I was in for quite the surprise.
I began this experiment when I was an exchange student in Japan. For one week I would have my host mother spray some vinegar onto my back after I had taken my shower after my nightly runs. I was going to do this for one week and then see if my acne had improved. Well, the truth of the matter was that I didn't need a week at all to notice a difference. My host mother began commenting that my acne had improved greatly within in the course of 3 days. My host father was relieved when this experiment was over because almost every time he passed by me, he would moan, "Kusai!" (You stink!).
There were many reasons why this proved to be so effective. The first is that vinegar can exfoliate the skin and thus remove the dirt and dead skin in our pores. It's also surprisingly an effective antibacterial able to kill many of the types of bacteria that live on our skin. This antibacterial effect allows it to prevent acne by killing one of the major instigators of inflammation that not only causes acne but turns pimples into scarring cysts. Finally, when vinegar is used in the shower as a soap replacement it cleans our skin without drying it out. That "clean" feeling that soap tends to create is actually much of the moisture from our skin being removed. Our body will desperately try to replace any lost moisture and tend to go overboard producing more than it should. That's why for many people who suffer from recurrent acne, taking a shower only seems to clean us for a couple of hours before we become greasy again.
You can make use of acne outside of my experiment and in a way that won't make you smell like salad dressing. You can buy a bottle of normal 5% white vinegar and a spray bottle for use in the shower. Spray on yourself and let it sit for about 30 to 60 seconds and then rinse thoroughly. It's important to remember that you should not use soap as it will negate the moisture preserving qualities of the vinegar. As for the smell, it usually won't last longer than the shower.
Vinegar removes pimples like no other solution I have come across. It has been an answer to the body acne that plagued me for years. It's shown itself to be more effective than acne creams that have stained my clothing and bedding.
